About Me
My name is Allison Sharp and I am a junior earning my Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior at Auburn University. My passion for animals began when I was just a young child growing up in the suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama. I spent countless hours watching Animal Planet and reading books on different animals and habitats. I knew at a young age that I wanted a career working with animals, but I didn't know what. It wasn't until college when I was introduced to the field of Ecology and Evolution that knew I had found my calling. Now I study how animals interact with each other in the natural world, just like the scientists I watched growing up on Animal Planet!

I enjoy questioning the natural world around us and thinking creatively to solve scientific problems. Participating in undergraduate research has been the perfect way for me to strengthen these skills and grow as a scientist. I have been a team member at two different labs on campus, where I have learned how to set up experiments, collect data, and use my computational biology skills to perform data analysis and make publication-quality graphics of the results.
When I am not conducting research, I am often at the Auburn University Museum of Natural History. I have been involved with the AUMNH since my freshman year, working in a variety of different departments such as the Live Animal Collections, Outreach Department, and Entomology Collections. I also work as the Student Coordinator for the Live Animal Collections and manage a team of twelve student volunteers. I am proud to announce that I was also chosen as the AUMNH 2022 Volunteer of the Year. I am so thankful for my time spent at the AUMNH, as it has sparked my passion for studying the natural history of our planet and all the creatures we share it with.
